I must admit that I find blogs and websites without pictures of the people involved and activities pursued to be quite boring. Especially with blogs, I feel there is a lot the visual aspect adds, whether it is to better understand what is being written about, or to just better understand the person doing the writing. This website, so far, has very few authentic brianandbrooke pictures on it (aka - ones not stolen from other websites), and it absolutely pains me!

There have been countless times over the past months that I so dearly wanted to put a picture we took on this site: a picture of me happily holding the keys to my paid-off car, a picture of me in my awesome Denny’s get-up, or even some real pictures of the gear we have for the trip so far. Those all would have been excellent, but, they are not there.

“Why?” you ask. “Do you not have a digital camera?” you ask.

Oh, I have a digital camera alright, and a fun one at that. It takes pictures directly onto mini-cd’s, which was great on my study abroad trip in Italy a few years back.

“I don’t get it,” you say. “If you have a digital camera and love putting pictures on websites, then why aren’t you doing it?”

Good question. There is also a good answer: I’m too friggin’ cheap. More specifically, I’m too friggin’ cheap to replace the camera charger I somehow lost a few months ago.

Oh yes, I could go to the store and spend about $20-$30 on a new charger, ultimately having use of my digital camera again to put pictures on this site, but I won’t. I won’t because I will be getting a better camera for the trip in a matter of months. I won’t because I’m saving for an around the world trip and have become the Queen of Cheapdom - a promoter of travel saving ideas, such as “That money could get us a day full of luxury in India”, or “Would I rather have a camera charger, or a week’s worth of food in Cambodia?”

I bet you are sitting there right now saying, “Do I really have to wait multiple months before we start getting some authentic brianandbrooke pictures on this site?!”

“NO!” we say.

Brian just got his video camera, which also takes pictures. When he’s back from NY in a week there will be more pictures than you can handle!
